The Department of Health Sciences (DiSS) is located in Novara and is one of the eight departments of the University of Eastern Piedmont, founded in 1998. It was established in 2012 as a natural continuation of the activities previously carried out by the Department of Medical Sciences, the first in the medical field at the University.

DiSS, along with the Department of Medical Sciences (DiMET), under the coordination of the School of Medicine, offers Bachelor's degree programs in Biotechnology, Physiotherapy, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Biomedical Laboratory Techniques, Medical Imaging, and Radiotherapy Techniques. Additionally, there is a single-cycle Master's degree program in Medicine and Surgery, as well as Master's degree programs in Nursing Sciences and Obstetrics, and an English-language Master's program in Medical Biotechnologies with three different curricula.

Both departments contribute to the organization of research doctorates in Medical Sciences and Biotechnologies and Food, Health, and Longevity Studies. The educational offerings also include various Specialization Schools and several Level I and II Master's programs.

DiSS is actively engaged in research, spanning from basic research to the study of disease pathogenic mechanisms and the development of biomaterials and innovative diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
