Department
Responsibility for Research and Third Mission activities, as well as quality standards, remains with the Manager of the Department.
The Departments must guarantee constant commitment to the improvement of Research and Third Mission initiatives, aiming for results of ever greater value, setting objectives aligned with the best national and international standards.
It is the Department's task to define and implement the procedures to achieve the objectives and monitor them periodically.
It is the responsibility of the Department Manager to:
- draft the SUA-RD
- draft the Departmental Three-Year Plan (definition of objectives, identification and implementation of actions that allow their achievement)
- monitor the achievement of goals
Annual single report of departmental research (SUA-RD)
The SUA-RD is an online database available for public viewing, where each Department uploads information on its activities.
It contains the definition of the Department's Research and Third Mission lines and is necessary for the Self-Assessment and Review, and for Periodic Evaluation and Accreditation.
The contents of the SUA-RD are divided into three sections:
Part I: goals, resources and management of the Department
- Research goals of the Departmental Management System
- Human resources and infrastructures
Part II: research results
- academic research - Internationalisation
- teachers without research output for the year in question
- projects funded by Calls
- responsibility and scientific acknowledgments
Part III: Third Mission
Contains information regarding the following activity:
- intellectual property and spin-offs
- partnership activity
- public engagement
- cultural heritage
- health and safety
- continuous professional development
- brokerage structures
For each of the objectives defined in Part I, the following must be identified in an operational plan: actions to be undertaken, responsibility for achieving the objective, methods of achievement, resources required or assigned, definition of the indicator or indicators and the corresponding objectives, deadlines for achievement and any progress, associated risks.
A Research and Third Mission management system must also be defined which clearly identifies:
- organizational structure of the Department
- research groups
- Department QA policy
- planning of the departmental research review activity.
The PQA, through the Support Office, ensures that all the data necessary for compiling the SUA-RD are provided.
Departmental Research Quality Manager (RQDR)
The Departmental Research Quality Manager (RQDR) is professor Claudio Santoro
The RQDR acts as intermediary between the University Quality Office (PQA) and the Department, and provides support, advice and supervision in the field of Research and the Third Mission.
It provides:
- monitoring of the activities included in the three-year plans and research review activities
- advice and support to the Department Manager for the drafting of SUA-RD
- QA training activities for Department staff.
Review Group - Research
The Department's Research Review Group is formed as follows:
- Teachers: Massimiliano Garzaro, Ciro Isidoro, Paola Savoia
- TA staff: Anna Rapa.
Third Mission
Alongside the two fundamental objectives of training and research, the University pursues a third mission, which is to promote the enhancement and use of knowledge to contribute to the social, cultural and economic development of society.
In this perspective, each department within the University is committed to communicating and disseminating knowledge through a direct relationship with the territory and its stakeholders
As part of the Third Mission activities, numerous initiatives have been activated, some of which have become a stable and structural element in the Department's activity.
